Does a Ceiling Fan Have a Fuse

Not every ceiling fan has a user replaceable fuse inside the fan.

In most modern U.S. homes, the ceiling fan circuit is protected by a circuit breaker in the main electrical panel. Older homes may use household fuses instead.

Some modern ceiling fans also contain receivers, control boards, motor drivers, or other electronic protection. These parts are not always designed for homeowner replacement.

Before opening the fan housing, check the manual for your exact model. If the manufacturer does not list a replaceable fuse, do not assume there is one hidden inside the motor.
